How has COVID changed basketball?2021-07-24T17:47:38+10:00

There are some changes as to how basketball will be played in order to maintain lower density numbers in the stadiums, and to enable cleaning and contact tracing.  Mooroolbark Flashes believes that while these changes may be inconvenient in the short term, we should all support whatever changes are necessary to allow for our kids to play again with their friends, for both their health and their happiness.

Please note that all participants must QR code into the training venue as well as the stadiums on game day.

There are ongoing changes to the restrictions throughout the season, but our committee is following them closely to ensure that we abide by the new rules.  For current updates on COVID restrictions and basketball, please refer to your Flashes coordinator or the Basketball Victoria website.

Games are played at either Kilsyth, Lilydale, Oxley or Melba Stadiums. Girls U8 to U11 play Tuesday afternoon/nights after school. Girls U12 to U21 play Wednesday afternoon/nights after school. All boys age groups play on Saturdays.

Summer season starts at the start of term 4 and runs through to the end of Term 1.  Winter season starts at the start of term 2 and runs through to the end of Term 3.

 

Where is training and how long is it?2018-02-13T11:26:57+10:00

Training is held in one hour sessions at Mooroolbark College, Monday to Friday from 4pm to 9pm. The night you train will be confirmed once the teams for the new season are locked in, but we try keep the younger team sessions earlier in the afternoon.

Fees are split into three parts and paid altogether via a centralised admin system called PlayHQ:

Basketball Victoria annual fee:  $25 for juniors and $39 for 18 and over

Kilsyth Association fee:  $10 per season

Mooroolbark Flashes fees:

Miniball: $20
U9-18:  $55
U21:  $40

We offer the first season for U7-U10 free for new players, but you will need to obtain the discount code from a coordinator to redeem this offer prior to registering.

There is a 10% discount on the Flashes fees for multiple family members registered at the same time on the same PlayHQ account.

You will also pay a game day fee of around $12 per game to your team manager, but there are no longer any door entry fees.

Yes, uniforms can be ordered online through our store page. A full set of shorts and singlet (reversible) cost $97.50. Enquiries regarding sizing and numbers can be directed to our uniforms coordinator.

It is expected you will play every week, but with exceptions of course (illness, school camps etc). There are no games or training over the school holidays and on public holidays.
